There were dinners, tastings and events galore over the three days celebrating Cabernet Sauvignon. One sold out event featured a Retrospective of Cabernet Sauvignon With Master Sommeliers Jay Fletcher, and Thomas Price. The session featured three iconic Cabernets from three very different terroir and vintages. Another highlight featured fourth generation vintner of Catena Zapata, Laura Catena MD. The session highlighted the rich differences of 5, 10 and 15 years in Cabernet. The wine featured, 1996, 2006, 2016 Freemark Abbey, Cabernet, Sycamore Vineyard, Napa. 2005, 2012, 2016 Joseph Phelps, Cabernet, Backus Vineyard, Oakville. 2006, 2011, 2016 Nicolas Catena Zapata Bordeaux Blend, Argentina.
A nod to the Judgement of Paris, celebrated the icons of both Napa Valley and Bordeaux at the Legends of Bordeaux and Napa. Wines showcased, Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley. Cardinale, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley. 2013 Joseph Phelps, Insignia, Napa Valley. 2018 Diamond Creek, Gravelly Meadow, Napa Valley. 2007 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill, Napa Valley. 2003 Château Cos d’Estournel, St-Estèphe, France. 2012 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Paulliac, France. 2017 Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Pessac-Léognan, France. 2017 Château Léoville Poyferré, St-Julien, France. 2017 Chateau Rauzan-Segla, Margaux, Bordeaux, France.
The signature culmination of the stars were featured under the umbrellas between the Vista Collina and Meritage Hotel and Resorts at the Grand Tasting. Standouts including Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, ZD Wines and Chateau Montelena shared their prize-winning 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2013 vintages.
